HND Distance Learning
The HND in Engineering Systems by distance learning is a ‘multi-disciplinary engineering’ award which has been developed by the SQA under its new HN Design Principles. The HND Engineering Systems consistsn of 30 HN credits; 2 credits common core, 13 credits mandatory Units, 3 credits graded units and 12 credits of optional Units.
This programme is a multidiscipline (M & E – Mechanical and Electrical, Renewable Energies, etc) course.

A common route for students is to first study towards a HNC in Electrical Engineering or HNC in Mechanical Engineering. This consists of 12 HN units. Then a student would complete 5 other HN units and obtain a HNC in Engineering Systems. This would be followed by a PDA in Renewable Energy Systems (6 HN credits) and then a PDA in Project management (4 HN credits).
When a student has completed all of these units he or she has almost completed a full HND in Engineering Systems. Thus gathering several qualifications en route to the HND in Engineering Systems.
