M.Eng/B.Eng Electrical Power Engineering Programs (FT)
This program is full-time. It is a 4 year program for the B.Eng and a 5 year program for the M.Eng program.
Entry requirements to the first year is 5 Highers or equivalent (AABBB) in Mathematics, Physics, Science, English, etc,…
Students with a HND in a related discipline can enter the 3rd year.
The aim of the programme is that climate change and economic drivers mean there is a strong move toward renewable energy from wind, wave and tidal sources – and correspondingly an increased demand for power system engineers.
The programme has been designed in collaboration with industry and has a strong emphasis on practical experience. It provides a broad education in electrical, mechanical and electronic engineering in Years 1 and 2, sharing common ground with other programmes in the MEng suite with specialist modules in power engineering and power electronics in later years.
Students have access to well-equipped computer aided engineering labs as well as electrical and electronic laboratories with leading technologies. The programme is designed to meet the requirements of the UK Standard for Professional Engineering Competence (UKSPEC) by the Engineering Council UK. MEng pathways satisfy the academic requirements for Chartered Engineer (C.Eng) status. The programme is accredited by the Institute of Engineering & Technology (IET) and Energy Institute (EI).
Assessment methods used to demonstrate achievement of learning outcomes include examinations, coursework, class tests, presentations, computer-based exercises and written reports.
Our aim is to build our students’ abilities in the areas demanded by employers in a global knowledge economy, through linking with employers to provide students with an authentic learning experience that blends with relevant studies.
